100mbps is the maximum your pc can transmit/receive so this would be a 100mb connection which is used in places such as schools and business.
170kbps is common for around 2mb Internet connections, so no need to worry everything is correct

the other people who posted not have read it incorrect as a Internet speed of 100 would cost like £200 per month which is way to much for a home computer

Your network speed may very well be 100mbps, but the speed at which you download depends solely on the limits of the server that you download from.

For security reasons, many servers will not allow full speed downloads so that they can be checked for errors, quality, virus protection, or things like that.

Also, if you are downloading from a well-known server, your download may be limited so that all of the users won't overload the server trying to get files at full speed.

check your local area to isp connection, your internet link speed must be 256 or 512, and if it is shared you might probably get low speed.

anyway what shows on your computer network icon is the internal connection speed to your main switch at the it room, not the internet connection. thats a separate thing.

Hi. I would go to PCPitstop and check your actual speed. You may have a large number of temp files that should be deleted, but this should tell you. http://pcpitstop.com/ It is free and you can test anonymously.
