I agree the EU are the gross polluters. Everyone wants to point the finger at the US even though we have become the most eco-friendly place on the planet. Let them keep finger pointing. Have you ever seen some of those large cities in Europe? I have and its tragic the level of pollution.

Nuclear power is overall more environmentally friendly than burning fossil fuels. It's certainly far from perfect and there are risks associated with it, but if you're looking for clean energy, nuclear power is a step in the right direction.

Quite honestly, Europe has every right to feel superior to the US in terms of environmental issues, including power generation. 52% of the US's power comes from burning coal, which is the most environmentally damaging source of power. Worldwide this value is only 41% and in Europe just 32%. Europe also gets 19% of its power supply from renewables while the US gets just 9%.

We need to focus on improving the USA's green power, not criticize Europe for their superior power grid, or for being snotty about it.

Well there is something to be said for nuclear power over burning coal. Nuclear power generation does not burn anything, so no carbon emissions. That said, unlike the U.S., with the nuclear waste repository in the remote desert Southwest, one has to wonder where they put the highly radioactive spent fuel?
