I have marble times in a conservatory which I am getting rid of . I would like to re-use the tiles elsewhere. Is there a way of getting the tiles up without damage?

Thanks

Hmm...this depends on how good the marble tiles were laid onto the concrete floor or cement/screed bedding. Firstly, I would examine the condition of marble tiles i.e. Identify damage, odd shaped, hollow tiles . Run a round edge metal rod or steel ball along the surface of floor tile; Follow by tapping it:- a hollow sound will indicate floor tile not bonded properly and a higher chance of salvaging it. Work around them by removing unwanted, damage or odd shaped tiles. Water jet the exposed mortar bed of the floor tiles to soften it and dampen any dust. Use a crow bar or tile/floor scraper to chisel out the remaining floor tiles carefully one piece at a time. Pretty soon, you will have all the tiles removed perhaps with a few brokens pieces as marble is often very soft & porous. Good luck.

Removing Marble Tile

One of the reasons that marble has so often been used in great works of sculpture is that it has a slightly translucent quality. This allows illumination in a room to penetrate the surface of some lighter colored marble materials. In the right light this material can seem to take on a very slight glowing quality. Even in darker marbles the play of light across the surface of the stone can be quite lovely. A polished marble tile is relatively easy to scratch; meaning that over time your kitchen floor may be marred by the moving of furniture and the clicking of heals. Repairing a scratched marble tile is a difficult job and usually requires the assistance of a professional.

If it is natural marble tile.I suggest you not to try.Now many Las Vagars customers always change their decoration. But it needs compound marble. It can be reuse easily.Like Camlia Compound Stone is very goods choice.

marble is very brittle and if they were put down right in the first place theres not much chance of getting them up in one piece but they do make a good surface to lay another floor on

I am in agreement with boyboy. You will have loads of trouble removing both the tiles and adhesive.

Try vinegar-it really cleans lime and hard water deposits so it may work-also if that doesn't work try acetone polish remover- but in a hidden spot first.

The only way to know is to have a go and find out. could you please ask the other person how it is possible to soften the cement, got me scratching my head with that one. Marble is usually softer than cement so I don't have good vibes about this project.................
