The scale of the media interest in the Madeleine McCann case has been unprecedented.

From day one, the McCanns courted the international media to help find their child.

But the Portuguese police decision to name them as suspects has seen media interest in the case reach even greater heights.

The McCanns have now appealed for privacy, but are they right to do so after initially encouraging the media?

Of course, they have a right to appeal for privacy Rik D!

They didn't court the media for themselves...as celebrities.
All they wanted, was media coverage to spread awareness of their missing Madeleine... That the media focused on them as well was not their wish.

No I don't feel they do have the right.
But if by chance they are innocent the press should be carrying on keeping the intrest in finding Maddie alive and not sitting outside the Mc Cann's house.
I also wonder how Gerry keeps up his blog I feel it is a bit odd.

The Mccanns have no chance of recieving privacy now that it has emerged that they could have killed poor maddie. any sympathy the public had for them through the media is now gone, and we, the public are entitled to seek the truth, in my opinion anyways. so, no, i dont think they are right to look for privacy now. They've made their bed, now they must lie in it

they can't pick and choose.............they courted the media in the beginning. if she is sill alive out there,then all publicity is good publicity, it is heightening the abduction to the worlds media, which has got to be good.
