Educate yourself. Learn to sew, learn to grow herbs and what to do with them. Experiment until you find something to keep your mind & hands busy that's not only creative but useful. What a rush that is!!! Scrapbooking and quilting are big deals right now, but having been a house person for nearly 50 years now, I'm too busy to try them. And my house is a mess. I raised a flock of kids and they flew the coop. I was too busy to have experienced 'Empty Nest Syndrome'.

I tend to think that you have no kids for now. You already are occupied by doing cleaning, laundry, meals, keaping the house a nice place. According to your tastes and what you'ld like to accomplish, you can learn a second language. Rearange a room with the same furniture: using a large paper board, measure the room in foot and rescale in inch cut them and put them here and there on your board before you actually move anything. Think of what you use to like to do whan you were a kid and those ideas are always at anytime in life. Find the most interesting for you and do that. Good luck!!!

Make a list of the things that either need or should be done. Then start on the list. If you are lucky enough to complete the list, and still have time then look into a hobby, or a craft, or even consider improvements to your home that can be done.
Busy hands will make the day pass.
good luck.

i am a house person too..sometimes it can be really boring;)
and there are my suggestions:
if you like reading books,it will take most of your time..and it is enjoyfull..(action books, policy, murder,thriller..etc..)
and i liked a book really much.."uh-oh" by Robert Fulghum
it is really funny and interesting book..some unnatural observations about natural things..;)
and watchin tv is usually wasting time..you can occupy with pc,msn..talking to your friends makes you not to realize how time is gone;)
and there is one more good idea..puzzle! it really takes your time and finally there is a work of art!! you can frame your puzzle and hang it to your wall:)

Rewriting your question over and over until you get it right is a start.
