Mr Muscle costs £4 a time and doesn't always work. Is there a cheaper alternative that is effective in the UK?

(Yes I have a blockage!)

I'm a plumber

Most blockages are due to build up of soap / fat or
hair (bath / shower) in the trap with other mater stuck to the build up.
Just unscrew the trap (use container to catch any water) and remove the blockage, use a hose outside and blast water through the trap until clean then replace the trap.
easy. and free.

If the blockage is deeper than the trap get a cleaning rod (looks like a long tough spring) and use to dislodge the blockage. waste pipe cleaning spring £2.70 (www.toolstation.com)

very hot water running over the fats (kitchen sink) and soap build up within the pipe will help dissolve away the build up, before it blocks again.

Sound like your waste pipe does not have sufficient fall, the waste water should be far away before it starts to cool down.

Don't pour fats / oil or food down the sink and try liquid soap.

I've never found the type of drain cleaners you find in the supermarket to be any use. In my view, there is no substitute for opening the U bend or trap and removing the blockage then flushing the line with water. My sink used to block regularly - the cause was that the connection to the stack pipe was too small - no quantity of drain cleaner could ever have fixed that one.

You can get something called "Drain Buster" for either the bathroom or kitchen. It tells you to use the whole bottle and if it is a bad blockage then I suggest you do. It costs around £2.50 but works brilliantly. I then just use a little each month to keep the drains clear.

I pour bleach down the drains... I do this at night before bed and in the morning run hot/boiling water down.... This should take care of the blockage.. I would NOT plunge it with any type of caustic liquid it could go into your eyes. So, be very careful and if you have to call a plumber please tell them what you used in the drain BEFORE they start working so they don't get hurt as well.. Also, for all you people who thumbs down bleach.. It works and isn't as dangerous or expensive as commerical drain openers.... !!!

If you get an old tennis ball and cut it in half, then fill the sink with water and let it begin to drain. Cover the overflow hole with a cloth to prevent water splashing out and put the half tennis ball over the drain and push it down sharply a few times and it should do the trick for you. Good luck!

Sometimes it works to put down baking soda, then vinegar and cover drain so the gas pressure is all down.If you can get all the water bailed then common powdered lye will but don't spill any or get it on your skin because it is very caustic and burns. Have you tried a suction plunger before you start with the chemicals?

The kinfolk member with the psychological illness isn't the dogs. hit upon a rescue or guard prepared to take him in and locate him some education and a incredible homestead. He does not end once you tell him considering the fact which you probably did no longer practice him to. the sole humane strategies of euthanasia (which your dogs does not choose) are the vet's approach or a bullet to the back of the cranium (unacceptable to me, yet acceptably via regulation in some places). the different approach will reason suffering. everybody with laptop get right of entry to can locate the money for the $25-$40 5 that euthanasia could fee on the vet-i do no longer think which you will no longer locate the money for it. back-hit upon a guard or rescue to help you rehome your dogs...the difficulty isn't the dogs, this is the owner.
