Hi Wisdom.
It is very unlikely that what you saw were shooting stars. If you saw 4 yesterday, that would be pretty impossible, unless there was a meteor shower. However, I did not hear about any meteor showers in that area (or any other); I read about astronomy all the time — love it.
The number that you saw is the first reason that they were not shooting stars. The second reason is that shooting stars are very fast — that's why they are called shooting stars ;-) It is lucky if you see one; it would be gone in a second. There would be no time to see it and then tell your friends. It would have been long gone by the time they looked up.
If it's the same size as a star, then it most likely is not a plane. I believe you when you say you know the difference. You certainly do not have to be a pilot to know what an airplane LOOKS like, as someone rudely said to you.
Because of the fact that you had time to tell your friends, who could then look up & see them, too, I would have to say that you were seeing satellites.
Sometimes they look exactly like stars, but they move slowly across the sky. Other times, you can see some blinking, just like stars, except they are moving. If you have very good eyes, & they are flying at just the right angle, you may be able to see red blinking; but that is very rare. I only saw that one time.
You should buy a pair of inexpensive binoculars. Get at least 8 x 40. The person who sells them will know what the numbers mean. Tell them 8 by 40. The numbers can go higher; just don't get a pair with smaller numbers. You won't see very much in the sky.
If you had binoculars last night, I bet you would have seen red & blue lights blinking on the satellites. We have many of them up in space. We now have 7,000 satellites up in space.
That is why we can talk to each other on the computer and on cell phones.
Also, if you had binoculars, you could see other planets, too. I can see 3 planets here, with the naked eye, where I live. I see Venus all the time; it's quite big & very bright. I can also see Mars, especially in the summer; it looks dark red. I can also see Saturn with its rings, but just barely. September is a good month to see it.
I use my binoculars to look, but because they are sooo powerful, and my arms are now weak, the planets move around & look squiggley. It is better when I used to look through my telescope. That is so very much more powerful. Remember I told you to get binoculars that are 8 x 40? Well, with the telescope, instead of the number 8, the number is 250. That is the number of magnification.
So, my friend, you are very lucky. You got to see 4 satellites in one evening. I am jealous — just kidding.
We have a very clear sky today; I will try to look for satellites & planets tonight, if I feel well enough.
Peace.

Same thing happened when i was very young, i saw a bright light doing impossible maneuvers, which itself was being pursued by 3 x helicopters, a lot of UFO interest groups formed during the 70s but is not so popular anymore, and a lot of misinformation and straight out lies from both hoaxers and the powers that be.Another mystery but as far as i am concerned seeing is believing.

You saw satellites. You can even verify it and identify them.
Before going outside this evening have a look at
http://www.heavens-above.com
and configure it with your geographic location. Then select satellites brighter than magnitude 4. You will get a list of observable satellites with the time and track overhead. Select those that have an elevation above 50° and view the details, such as their track relative to the stars. With a correct clock you are now able to identify your observed satellites.

Probably it is more of a plane or a satellite. Sometimes when objects are a afar they seemed to be those what we percieved to be but when a telescope was used you we note that it is different. This is how illusory images makes it obvious. We tend to be mislead what we ought to think is true.
Interesting question.

If the lights didn't blink rhythmically and if they moved along a straight line then you were almost certainly watching man-made satellites.

"i don'e believe its a plane because i can tell the different"
Why can you tell? Are you a pilot? Are you aero-space engineer?
You simply don't want to believe it is a plane.
It is either a plane or a satellite. Nothing else it could possibily be.
Or maybe it's God. o_0

Most likely a satellite; there's tons, they look like stars and you can see them with the naked eye moving.
