If you really don't have a drinking problem, stopping drinking is really easy; if you happen to see a beer, don't pick it up and don't drink it. Really, really easy.
However, if you find stopping a bit tougher than this, you should consider the possibility that you really do have a drinking problem and you should look into receiving professional treatment.
Not sure what this has to do with football.

If you feel that you really need to stop, but can't help but drink, then you have a problem. You need to make some sort of conscious change. You need to control the drink, not the other way around. To be normal you need to be able to wisely decide when you will have another drink, or decide to abstain.

Pull for a football team that really sucks. Celebrate by drinking one beer when they win. I'm not talking 40 ounce either. Do they still make Miller Ponies? I don't drink anymore and I am a Saints fan. I quit a few years back.

When you have to contemplate how to stop using a drug you have a problem. I am sorry to tell you. Only drink on games you will watch with friends. Do not drink alone, and only drink what you buy. Try not to be making runs to the store. I hope you can control your drinking and have fun.

you say you really need to stop drinking.not sure why you need to stop but im sure there is a reason, you also say you dont have a drinking problem.bottom line is you wont stop drinking until you addmit there is a problem.so when you are ready to do that try going to AA.
its not a fun option but unfortunately the only one out there.

If you are really desperate and just can't do it on your own, there are medications (such as some antibiotics) that make you really really sick..like SUPER sick when you drink alcohol. I believe the one marketed for it specifically is called antabuse, but im not positive. If you are interested in that, i would contact your doctor...

The fact that you are denying having a drinking problem but then go on to say you really need to stop combined with you asking for help to stop . . . well, I am pretty sure that means you do have a problem and you need to go to AA.

Why would you want to do that?? To quote Homer Simpson - "beer is the cause of and solution to all of lifes little problems". The key words there are "solution to". If you're gonna give up beer, you might as well just go get neutered while you're at it.
