If you have say 1.2 MB and I multiply by 1024 the ansew is 1228.8 KB which is 1258291.2 bytes. While this is theoritically possible, are there any conventions in rounding or technical definitions to get the actuall answer.

actually just very simple, just round of the decimal when u reach "bytes", no other better or "conventional" methods

there is an accepted, but not very accurate convention of simply mulitiplying the MB part by 1000.....this is most loved by mathematicians who believe that a Kilo is 1/1000 times a Mega......not 1/1024
