Looking for something which has really something to say & will be played decades from now (vs most of the stuff on the current charts and on FM radio).

So Many Tears by 2Pac. Couldn't stop playin that song if I tried.

It happened to rock and, later on it happened to rap. They reached a point that would probably not be reached again. For rock it was the late 80's, early 90's with likes of GnR and Tallica bringing rock to it's pinnacle and also to it's ultimate demise. Everything thereafter being medicore. So too for rap. Tupac and Snoop doing the same. So, in saying that, I declare Tupac's "Hit 'em Up", this being the pinnacle of the genre, the best rap song of all time. Understand rap, understand hip hop and you will know that there is no contest. Tupac was hip hop's main event and "Hit 'em Up" was Tupac at his best.

Love's Gonna Get'cha (Material Love) by KRS-One

It should be required listening for people that listen to alot of the rap that's out today, especially what's played on the radio.

Well, the lyrics are violent and pointless, but Hit 'Em Up by 2Pac is the best rap song ever. Also, it's frightening to listen to him so angry. Now that we know that 2Pac and his rival Biggie Smalls were shot to death one just can wonder while listening to this song.

There's lots of good rap songs, I cant pick out the 'best' but here are a few of my favorite artists...Mac G, Tighteyez, KRS ONE, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Jedi Mind Tricks, Snacky Chan aka Chan, Immortal Technique..etc..etc the list goes on.

i think its a tie between NY state of mind by nas , and notorious thugs by bone thugs and Biggie. both have a good beat and smooth lyrics.
