Whenever I speak to someone I don't know (or someone I do know but not very well) I completely freeze up sometimes, & get really anxious about saying the wrong thing so a lot of the time I just stay silent, I don't mean normal stranger shyness, I'm just really afraid to talk to them. But when I'm with a close friend I can completely open up & say anything I want without thinking about how it's going to sound?

I have the exact same problem. You are by nature an "introvert". That means that you much prefer the people you are comfortable with and already know more than those whom you don't. There is nothing wrong with this. There are many of us out there, we are just harder to find because of what situations we do not like to put ourselves in.

It's easy for others to say, "just do it!", or "practice will make things easier." But in all actuality this is not the case. This is just who you are. It shows that you will keep a really good friend close to you no matter what.

That in the end is what makes us introverts such good friends to have. We tend to be better at treasuring the friends we have better than extroverts.

Don't be ashamed of who you are. Keep your good friends close. The odds are that they are going to be your biggest allies in the future.

Yeah, it happens all the time with everyone. Just try not to overthink too much with what you're saying, because when you overthink things you get really nervous and end up saying the wrong thing. Just imagine your with your mates and laugh it up.

Just pretend you know them. Or talk about something your confident with. Or if you can, have someone there with you if you going to meet someone, that can really help!
