First they become rich off the fund, then they want a few million more from the Tal & Qual newspaper for telling the truth now they want a separate fund for their defense. Do they ever pay their own bills?
By the way. The Villa they rented later was 7000 euros per month quite a step up from their middle class vacation apartment. The Algarve has beautiful very expensive villas and resorts, the one they were staying at is very low end compared to what's all around so when the fund money started coming in they stepped right up living like rockstars.

YES they love it, they covert it... they'll do anything for it... and ths seems to apply to all of them...
What makes me laugh is how unashamed they are of the fact they are constantly trying to scrounge off of us, and when they are not trying to scrounge off of the public they are trying to get free services from other people: free lawyers, free private jets, free DNA experts. They have no shame whatsoever! Why the Hell don't they re-mortgage their home!!

You see I understood someone lent them their villa - i.e. they didnt pay 7,000 euros a month for it. I dont recall them charging money for a story (although to be fair they will probably have to now to pay for legal expenses).
I would be interested in seeing where it details otherwise.
If they choose to set up a legal fighting fund and people contribute to that I think that's fine. I don't have a problem with that at all.

Does it matter where they stayed and how much it cost, at the end of the day they had an extended holiday and only decided to come back to England because the police are now hot on their trail. they'll be amongst family and friends, the twins will be with family when they eventually get arrested and found guilty.
I think they would have stayed on in Portugal at anybodies expense if they hadn't become the suspects.

At least they will not be using the fund for their legal fees, though in the papers today it is stated they will set up a 'fighting fund'. This raises the question, who will be putting the money into this fund - surely they're not expecting more contributions.

The Find Maddy fund was set up because kind people wanted to help by sending money. The McCanns did not instigate the setting up of the fund - they were asked to by members of the public.
The same thing goes for the fund for their defense. People are offering them money and, as legal fees are extortionate, they are accepting offers of help. Who wouldn't?

No, they don't.
They love their Madeleine and as repeatedly stated by them the fund is being used to search for her. PIs (thats Private Investigators) don't come cheap. And you're not going to get details of something PRIVATE...so kindly scoot off & leave this grieving family alone.
The villa they lived in was funded by their own personal finances NOT BY THE FUND. They had family over to support them in their grief & their search, you know...no, you don't!

how dare anyone say something as low as that to someone who is grieving for their missing child!!!!
the McCanns may be rich but they probably want to leave their money for their children!!!! and so don't spend it, also what they did was fair an square renting the villa as you don't wanna stay at home all day whilst on holiday!!!
