Last night I hooked my laptop to my monitor. How can I close my laptop without my monitor shutting off? I would appreciate some help with this. Thanks in advance!

Under the power management section there is a list of things the computer can do when the lid is closed.

The default is to go into standby, you need to change it to do nothing.

The caveat is that you really need to make sure that you suspend/hibernate/shutdown the laptop when you are done. Just closing the lid is going to keep it running and you will have a dead battery next time you open it.

Unless you program the operating system not to shut down the monitor it will shut off. Go to Control Panel (I am assuming you are using windows), click on power options, and set Power schemes to Energy Star and than set Turn Off Monitor to NEVER.

Simple ways just properly shut down the system then remove it safely after that may be it shows the problem like driver missing so run the mother board cd of your laptop...
