There are 7 basic units for measuring different things. All the others are derived of those 7 basic. For example:
length -> m
time -> s
mass -> kg
electric current -> A
temperature -> K
quantity of matter -> mol
luminous intensity -> cd
speed -> m/s (or km/h) (derived) etc

Distance = km miles cm meters feet inches
height = " "
weight = " "
length = " "
width = " "
speed = kilometers per second, meters per hour etc...
temperature = celsius fahrenheit kelvin
(kelvin is just a measure of heat for scientists, 0 kelvin is the lowest possible temperature on Earth (absolute zero is what it's called) It's basically celsius plus 273. (Eg 20 degrees celsius is 293 kelvin)
Anything you can see is measurable really.
Good luck

Some categories and examples are:
1. Length: centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, miles.
2. Area: squares of above lengths, square centimeters, square meters, square yards, etc.
3. Perimeters measured in terms of lengths.
4. Volumes: in cubes of above lengths: cubic meters, cubic feet, etc.
5. Weights: milligrams, grams, kilograms, tons, ounces, pounds, etc.

Edit: I think you wanted more than just 2 or 3 examples...
Below is a link showing things that can be measured (length area, time, mass, heat, etc.), and various units. Just scroll down the page...

Hope it helps... Although I think benz300coupe's list is large enough... :)

Apart from the ones already mentioned (length, area, volume, capacity, weight) - speed (km/h, mp/h), all sorts of chemical and physical characteristics: power (watt), current (volt, ampere), energy (joule, calory), density...
