If the information gained here is that valueable, then I would venture to guess that every team out there is doing something like this....

See, here's the thing. I'm not saying anything about it's legality. I'm saying it's awfully hypocritical to throw stones when every one of these teams is living in a glass house. On Sportscenter, several ex-players, and coaches have even said that THEIR teams did this. I still fail to see what you can do with that information in the 20 seconds that the radio is on between coach and QB.

Further; the Patriots have not denied doing this, and it's not about arrogance. As he said in his press conference yesterday B.B. stated that they were filming based on their interperatations of this rule. Besides, I can get all these signals by watching the game on CBS anyway.

It's not about whether I think it's OK for anyone to cheat. I question how much this really IS cheating, and it's irratating that people are comparing this to steroid use, which even though it's banned in the NFL, we all know that it's widespread in the league.

Look im sure that every team has somebody stealing the signals. i mean all they gotta do is get someone good seats and have a camcorder ready for them. and bam.... just have them video tape it. if i can think of something like that im sure there are pleanty of coaches that do it. the pats just got caught.

Last year there was a vote of 22-10 in favor of using radio helmets for defense, so hand signals couldn't be stolen. The voting required 24 to pass. So, there's probably at most 10 teams who could possibly have motives to cheat, the Pats being one of them.

Just to get this straight, I'm not saying 9 other teams cheat but just trying to rule out the 22 that would have no reason to cheat the same way the Pats have.

It does NOT matter if they are the only team or not!!

It is an NFL Rule that was set up...There have been rumors for years that the Pats rose to Football Power by using Illegal Tactics, but no one has had the proof...People were looking for the Pats to get caught, and they were arrogant enough to do it....They got caught because they decided to cheat against a Former Assistant Coach of the Pats, who now coaches the Jets....That is SLIMY......The Jets coach had every right to turn the Pats into the Police and NFL Security...

First off, head coaches throughout the NFL have suspected this kind of thing going on for a long time. Defensive Coordinators that don't disguise or change their signals and have cracker-jack codes that can be broken by 4th graders with hand-held camcordes are morons. Even with the information, you still have to execute the play. Do you think that people don't realize that Peyton Manning is going to pass, or LT is going to run at you? Even if you know what's coming, you still have to stop it.

And I think you are wrong - I do not believe Dungy, Lovie and even last year with Cowher that they do these things.

And I think that people that say everyone is doing it with NO evidence belongs at the National Enquirer - as a smear monger and producer of c%ap.

That said, no, I do not think the Pats are the only ones - but I refuse to paint everyone with a paint brush of slander just to make me feel better for pulling for a cheater.

You asked.

Note to MongadaBear (sp?) Any first year debate student know you cannot prove the negative - so of course I cannot prove all the teams have not cheated - but it takes more than talk - it takes evidence to prove they all did - your answer is a very weak apology for cheaters! There is a difference between asking your team members who played on another team what the plays were vs. stealing a play book etc. You still offer no evidence - so you are wrong - unless you can do better than vague references - I still say ALL is a stupid word to use and you cannot prove what you say!

:-)

of course not.....they are merely the only ones so arrogant, that they were blatant about it (even using the same dude!), and so they got burned for their arrogance. But all teams will do whatever they can to sabotage the other guy.

NFL is too big money for them to be able to afford to play fair.

VegasRob.....I hate the Pats...but you have no evidence to counter the cheating, while I have seen and heard countless interviews with players who talked about what they would do to ge the "edge".....from stealing playbooks, to stickum, to filming the signals. They might not all cheat the same way, but with 100s of millions on the line, not to mention their Jobs....none of these guys can afford to be Saints. Deal with it. (even Tomlin intimated that other coaches were doing it)

And about the radio signals......that would actually make it easier to steal the signals, you simply have to find the right frequency.

They are the only team that has been caught (4 times I read). I have not heard of any evidence of any other team doing this. So to say "all teams do it" is wrong because there is no proof, just assumptions.

Yes, everyday I wake up thinking about how bad those damn Patriots rig things. I still remember the 2001 championship game with the Raiders...It was a fumble and everyone knows it. The Raiders got screwed! Then some idiot on a lawn mower with a snow plow, drives out on the field and sets vinateri up with a clear kicking spot. Now thats cheating!
