Cayenne is the best for sore throat (and even strep).
The safe amount would be 1/8 of a teaspoon in about half cup of warm water (gargled several times a day for about a day or two) or for quicker results, here's an effective recipe:
- 12 oz of purified water
- 4 oz of Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/2 tsp of Cayenne Pepper
- Honey (as much as you want)

You can either drink this (which would be much more beneficial) or gargle several times a day. It doesn't taste so bad, I've done it myself several times throughout the years.

Another remedy is a tea consisting of:
- 16 oz of purified water
- 3 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar
- 3 tbsp of lemon juice
- 2 tbsp of honey

Heated slightly, warm enough for one to sip.

Another, if you can handle it, is a teaspoon of Tabasco sauce taken 3 to 4 times a day.

Last one, a capful of Jack Daniels (my fav for this particular remedy) in a cup of tea right before bedtime. I've tried this, slept like a baby and was less sore by morning.
Though if you're very sore, cayenne pepper has been proven to be the most effective.

Hope you feel better soon. :-)

Oh cripes, I really feel for you, sore throats are the worst! I usually gargle with salt water, it seems to coat the throat and help with the pain. If you are aspirin tolerant, you can gargle with that too. Eat/drink liquid type foods, such as soups, rice puddings, icey poles, etc. I like the Difflam throat sprays too - they are really helpful if you wake up in the middle of the night in pain, just spray on. If it lasts for a few days without getting better, you may need antibiotics, don't leave it too long as it can be tonsilitis or something bacterial that needs help to clear up. Good luck!!

Crush one whole head of garlic, don't worry about pealing it. Put all of it into 8-16 ounces of water. Bring to boil and let seep for 10 minutes. Then drain the water into a jar or cup. Add juice of one lemon freshly squeezed. Add honey to taste. Only take three to four tablespoons a day. Or you will end up with a whole body flush.

Gargle with warm salt water. Salt kills bacteria. That's why chicken soup is considered a "Cure" because of the sodium levels. You can also take some tylonol if you need to get some sleep.

Several suggestions. Brush your teeth and gargle. Drink tea w/ lemon. Gargle warm salt water. Suck on a mint or lozenge. That's all I got. You must have put something dirty in your mouth. Be more careful in the future.
