If I were you. I would not even bother building a wooden boat... Its a great idea but do you realise that a wooden boat needs a lot of work just to upkeep it. If you don't keep it in the water for most of the time it will dry out and leak. The bottom needs to be anti-fouled at least once a year to stop gribble from attacking the wood You will have to keep re-varnishing every year to keep it tip top condition. And when you decide to sell it when you are fed up with all the work, you wont even get back the money you have spent on it to build it. Go for fibre glass or steel. Its much better, and holds the value . You can pick up fibreglass boats for nothing around the coast for restoration. You just have to look for them. ======================================... Look as though the happy thumber is around again.
