I have a Chemistry assignment and one of the questions are to write a balanced equation for my element, which is carbon.

C+4 + 4e- -------> C(s) 0 charge <-------Reduction

or

C(s) (remember, 0 charge) -------> C+4 + 4e- <----- Oxidation

This is the only thing that I can think of that the teacher may possibly be asking. Are you sure you gave enough info? Hope this helps! Check with the teacher to make sure that he or she meant Oxidation/Reduction reaction.

Maybe they mean a balanced equation for a reaction of, or the formation of, your element?
