We found out 6 days ago we are pregnant. We are soo excited!! We go to the doctor friday what are some questions they will ask? also my right side has been hurtin really bad...my husband was born with some birth defects such as part of his lower sternum is missing(dont know what the proper name is) i also have a severe bacteria infection which i've had for over a month and cant get rid of even tho we've treated it before. I would really like them to do an ultrasound to make sure im not pregnant in my tube considering that my lower right sideis hurting. Do i just tell the doctor this and will they check it out? and i'm about 80 pounds overweight... we will be 5 weeks and 1 day friday. thanks for your answers.

I would definitely get checked out by your doc. before con't with your pregnancy. You seem to have a lot of genuine concerns, not just about your own health but your husband's as well. I would talk with a genetic counselor & see, what your chances are that you baby will be born healthy. Good Luck.

They will take your weight and your blood pressure. Depending on the Dr's office they will also take a urine sample. After that, they will ask you your health history. Be prepared to answer all of those questions at least twice LOL. First the Nurse will ask you and then the Dr. Things like Do you smoke? Diabetes run in the family? Previous pregnancies? They will ask you when your last menstral period was and how many days your cycles usually are. Then Doc will ask you how you've been feeling such as have you had any nausea etc. Be sure and write all your questions down so you don't forget to talk with him about anything that concerns you. He may or may not mention your weight. He will want to discuss with you how much weight he thinks would be healthy for your size. He will probably do an ultrasound too. Most Dr's offices do one on the first visit so that they can date the pregnancy and see if it is viable. One word of warning, it will be a vaginal u/s so be prepared! Congrats adn good luck!

While I am happy about your excitment I am also concerned with the fact that your husband was born with birthdefects and it also worried me that you are currently 80pd,s over weight. When I became pregnant with my son, 6 months prior to becoming pregnant I went to see my obgyn to get her opinion and advise about what to do for my health and future babies health before I became pregnant, so what I did was I lost 20 pds, I started to take prenatal vitamins, I began eating healthy, and I quit smoking. You see, these are the step,s you take prior to becoming pregnant so that you have a safe and healthy pregnancy. During pregnancy you will gain between 30-50 pds, on top of your 80 means your body will be required to carry around a extra 100 plus pounds, this is not good, this means your heart has to work extra hard, you can develop toxemia, you can end up having high blood presure, and you can also become diabetic. Sorry if I come off negative but I dont get why you did,nt pre-plan for becoming pregnant, this is your childs health, this is your health, why be so selfish? Anyway, good luck, I really mean that. And as far as your lower right side hurting, this may be nothing at all but Id talk to my doctor about it.
