I read about it and it has supposedly been worked on by many different composers, and is supposed to bring on the apocalypse when it is finished or something. I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Franz Peter Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony No. 8"...
written in 1822.

Here's the story....
Among Schubert's most famous and brilliant masterpieces, we find his eighth Symphony. In this work we discover music that has never been written before or after the time of Schubert. The magic of the symphony touches the audience from the first bar, and keeps the listener enchanted until, yes, until the end of the second movement. But, what about the third and fourth movement?

We don't know for sure what happened to the last two movements that should have been written or, if they ever were finished. If they were ever written then, they were published under a different name.

Whatever the reason and whatever did happen to the last two movements has remained a mystery but, it's possible those two movements are somewhere, yet to be discovered and, once they are, Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony No. 8" will finally be complete.

To add to Gene's answer:

Schubert lived until only 31. Because he was a remarkably prolific composer who usually had several pieces in the works simultaneously, he left a number of pieces unfinished at the time of his death. The "Unfinished" Symphony is the most famous of these; probably second would be his "Quartetsatz."

Schubert did, in fact begin at least a third movement to the symphony and a second movement to the quartet.

Neither of these pieces are songs. But Schubert wrote an amazing number of songs, too: over 900.

The best-known "Unfinished Symphony" was composed by Franz Schubert. If someone completed it, would that bring about the Apocalypse? Sorry... that isn't part of MY eschatology...

You must bet thinking of Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8, more commonly know as the "Unfinished Symphony." It's quite famous.
