It has been awhile since I asked the question. Lets see if the clerks theory is right.

Empire because it had the better story, gave depth to the characters, introduced Yoda, the Emperor, Boba Fett, and Lando.
Then Jedi had to ruin it all by having the kick azz Stormtroopers all get spanked by a bunch of primitive teddy bears with bows and arrows. WTF?

Hands down, EMPIRE. The characters all go through radical changes, the future at times looks pretty doubtful, and JEDI wouldn't have been any good without those edge-of-the-seat cliffhangers established in EMPIRE. Plus, it has some of the best battle sequences in the whole series, and probably John Williams' best STAR WARS score overall. (IMHO)

Empire. Hands down the best of the six flicks. It's the only one that leaves you chomping at the bit to see the next one. Jedi was a shameful follow up although it was cool to see Vader burning at the end...

Who doesn't think this question is redundant? ... OK.. and really fun. When I was in the middle of 3rd grade, I moved 2,000 miles from home. The new class I was in had entertainment we could use during lunch time. EVERY DAY I closed my eyes and listened to "Empire" on an old 45 record with those big, puffy brown headphones.

it seemed to round the curve for me... the empire didn't end good...where Jedi i think ended good... with the images of his mentors at end, Obi Wan, his daddy, and Yoda wow! if was ending...
I like the installment of next # if they are real, with Hans son, and Jedi leader Luke in a battle with other Sith lords out there like the Th Comic Rebellion has in it...

Return of the Jedi. It may be considered the weakest of the trilogy but I thought it was the best.
