I am from New Jersey and no matter where i go or who i am with someone always asks me if i am from Brooklyn. You see, when I was born god did not explain that the letter "R" is in the vocabulary so if i say Beer it really means Beea
and daughter is really Daughta
and water is wata
so yes i have a stupid accent. LOL

Yes, I do. Our intonation in Hawaii is very different from most other places. We also have a form of our own creole language called "Pidgin English". I may structure my sentences different than those from the continental U.S. However, I know how to turn on and turn off my Pidgin English. I may use it when speaking to someone of an older generation. When I was in college, a friend had no idea that I grew up in Hawaii. He thought I spoke proper English. That's attributed to a strict, military father. Thanks Dad!

Can you hear my accent in my words? Do you understand me? Do we speak the same language? I think so!

Mahalo! =0)
