I just got done watching a news segment about a small cemetary being vandalized. About 20 headstones were tipped over. What goes through some of these peoples heads? People that do these things need some serious counseling. I think community service is a little too easy for a punishment of this crime. I think whoever is caught should wear a sandwich board that says "I Vandalize Cemetaries" in front of a funeral home during a service, or a retirement home. That way people will humiliate them, and then a lesson might be learned.

First I think they should be made to work at the cementary and also make them go to funerals so they can see what the families go through. Then also they should be forced to spend the night alone in a graveyard. I also like the sandwich board idea you have up there.

There already ARE punishments for vandalism.. they just need to be ENFORCED by the JUDICIAL system.

Counseling? Naw... that won't do any good. The sandwich board idea has some merit, but not in front of a funeral home during a service... that would "hurt" the family of the deceased... or a retirement home??? What? And REMIND them of where they're going and that there are people out there who would disrespect them even after they're gone? I don't think so.

Humiliate them some other way that would really MEAN something to the offender, which means on a case-by-case basis.

But there should be SOME jail time given also.

should do an empathy course and attend a funeral of a child or make them protect the cemetery from other vandals as a job also make them repair the damage and tidy them up

40 hours of community service working in a funeral home sounds reasonable.

52 weekends of picking up dog crap and cigarette butts at local parks sounds about right. Starting at 5 AM on Saturday and ending sundown on Sunday.
