i have a math problem and i can't figure it out



im a integer the difference between me and 10 is the same difference between me and 6 what am i

*Rewrite the problem into a mathematical equation.

10 - x = x - 6

First: combine "like" terms on one side - subtract 10 from both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).

10 -10 - x = x - 6 - 10
- x = x - 6 - 10
- x = x - 16

Sec: subtract "x" (the one on the right side) from both sides.

- x - x = x - x - 16
- x - x = - 16
- 2x = - 16

Third: isolate "x" by dividing -2 with both sides.

(- 2x)/-2 = (- 16)/-2
x = (- 16)/-2
x = 8

The missing number is 8
