I just bought my house a few months ago and the previous owner only owned the house for a year. We are wondering if there is a way to find out how much she bought the house for? Anyone know of a way to find that out?

Jenny: Go to your court house and ask for a "real estate card" on the property in question. This is usually a free service. The "card" will give you all the information you need.

This is not unethical AT ALL!! It's public information. The deed usually shows $10 only since many people rather you not know what they purchased floor and the deed needs to show some kind of monetary consideration (at least in cook county, IL) so your best bet is to call the realtor who helped with the purchase. He/she should have no problem looking at the MLS history. No need to trick him/her. This is perfectly legal! lol

It should be in the county records office.

You have no business about that and not very ethical on your part - although if you could trick your realtor - she should know.
