The Danger is my all-time fave. It was interesting learning about kidnapping and the company created to deal with it which apparently had basis in fact. I also liked the romance aspect.

The Edge is another fave. Again with the romance, although it was rather light.

Twice Shy. Although now laughably out of date, I loved the first main character, the older brother.

Longshot - it was interesting learning all those things about survival.

I liked Bolt for the he-mannishness of the main character.

Blood Sport - I liked the main character and his bleakness, and the romance.

I guess in summary, although pretty much all of his books have at least some hint of romance, some appeal to me more than others. I also seem to respond to the more "manly" of his characters.

The link below is to a new book coming out, which appears to be co-written with his son.

My favorite Dick Francis book is Decider.

Others that I really enjoy are (in order of preference):

- To The Hilt

- Nerve

- Longshot

- Break In

And there's one other one, the title of which escapes me... It takes place in three places; Italy, England (seaside town), and America, and is about a series of kidnappings-- this is probably the darkest of his books, but it's really well written. This book (sorry, I can't find the title, but you should be able to tell by reading the book flap) is my brother's favorite; probably 3rd on my list.

My pick is PROOF. It was the first one I read and I loved the winery country, and the horse racing aspect. I also liked Field of 13: that was of course, 13 of his shorter stories in one book together. Each is different enough to be entertaining by itself, but not long enough to be sold as a separate book. I've also read Straight and Dead Wrong.
