Yes, the mucus plug does look like bloody snot. And it may take a little time to pass it all and this is normal! But if by chance you start bleeding, (not mucus) see your OBGYN immediatly!!!!!
With my last pregnancy I was losing my mucus plug and started actually bleeding and had my baby prematurly. But it isn't anything to fear.
If you are feeling uncomfortable though see your doctor!! It is always better to be safe than sorry... especially with your little miracle.
Another thing is that people will say when you lose your mucus plug you are just days away from labor. Medically speaking that is not true!!! I am proof of that!! I lost mine with two of my kids and still carried for another 3 weeks!
Good luck!!

It is mucus with traces of blood. In some cases, it can ooze out like bloody snot as your put it for some time. Sometimes, a pelvic exam can cause some leakage of the mucus plug. It could also be an indicator that you are not far from labor.
Watch for nagging back pain which is sometimes ignored but is actually labor. If an odor occurs with the discharge, contact your physiciam. If it becomes heavy or is accompanied by pain, inform your physician. If was just once, I wouldn't worry.

Usually when the doctor checks your cervix you will experience bleeding later on in the day so there is still a chance that it was not the plug. If it was the plug that just means that you will be going into labor soon can really say when all women are different some it may be days and for others it may be right away. Now if you are having contractions 3 to 5 minutes apart or your water breaks go to the hospital.

TRUST me on this one: you are about 5-7 days away from labor. The mucus plug could be a 'blob' or just a small amount of the bloody snot-like substance. But one thing bears true, if that is your mucus plug, then labor is very close. Either way, call your Doctor now and tell HIM what's going on, not 'internet' people... they, -WE can't help you from here...
Good luck, and hope all goes well for you!

Well first of all, you discharge anyway regardless. Pregnancy is bad for that. If you had a vaginal check up today more than likely you will see some blood in your discharge. Completely normal girl...lol. But if this does worry you do not be afraid to call your doctor or midwife. They are there for your concerns. Also, you might not have shown any signs of labor at your appt. but labor is weird it could happen in an hour in even two weeks from now. If you are eager and ready for your baby to come out like i am (36 and 1/2 wks) I would ask your doctor if you could schedule a induction. Don't be afraid to call your Doctors Emergency phone number. I'm sure they are used to being bothered at all hours of the night.
I wish you and your baby well and a perfectly safe delivery...

You can very well be going into labor. I had similar symptoms yesterday like contractions, loose stools for 3 days and I also had pelvic pressure, and some cramping. I was indecisive about whether or not I should of gone to the hospital which at the last minute I did and was in fact going in to premature labor. I had contractions every 8 minutes and they administered medication to stop my contractions due to that I am only 33 weeks pregnant. You just know when something is not right and follow your gut. With u its different because u are considered to be full term so just walk, clean, go on a bumpy ride and when you start feeling worse go to the hospital. By the way they told me I was 1 cm dialated and 50 percent effaced. Good luck! Hope u have your baby soon.

The exam can cause some of that. It can also mean that your cervix is changing. As you dilate and progress it will be like bloody snot. Watch for any other symptoms or changes like watery discharge, contractions or bright red blood. Any of that and you should go to the hospital. Otherwise, just get some rest and wait for your baby!
Congrats!

MUCUS PLUG... CAN LOOK LIKE BOTH YOUR DISCRIPTIONS. AT 37 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, A MUCUS PLUG VARIES IN SIZE AND COLOR ,IT MAY BE YOU LOST PART OR ALL OF IT. IN ANY CASE YOU ARE FAR ENOUGH ALONG IN YOUR PREGNANCY ,THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEGINNING OF YOUR BODY GEARING UP FOR LABOR AND DELIVERY. AND OFTEN TIMES IT CAN TAKE AWHILE. I WOULD SEE THIS AS NORMAL, UNLESS YOU HAVE ODOR IN THE DISCHARD OR FEVER, THOSE COULD MEAN INFECTION.

Thats what it will look like bloody snot. It could come out all at once or a little at a time. It can also come out weeks before going into labor, but it can also come out just a little while before labor.
