It's happened many times, and there can be a number of causes. .The first is absent mindedness -- just getting so busy you forget about dates on the calendar. The second is low body weight, which can affect menses. But you never know if you are just missing a period or if you are pregnant. Another cause can be a lactating mother. If you have one young child that you are breast feeding, that can throw your periods off - but you can still get pregnant without realizing you are. There are other causes as well, but yes, in answer to your question, it does happen more frequently than you might think.

I was actually pregnant for 2 1/2 months and when i did find out that i was pregnant i thought i was only 2 weeks along but NOPE i was 10 weeks along! I had my period for 2 months and everything! I was always skepticle of people not knowing that they were pregnant, but if they arent showing any signs and still having a period it doesnt even cross their mind that they are... Now for the girls having babies in bathrooms saying that they NEVER knew that they were pregnant... I dont think so! they get really big and feel kicks and movement...,... so who knows... I hope this was helpful in knowing that it is possible... It happened to me!

Somone I work with doesn't normally ovulate so she didn't expect to get pregnant, she has very irregular periods so it took her until she was 17 weeks - she wasn't showing or anything at the time it was only that the Dr said she could take something to make her periods regular but she had to have a pregnancy test then which she laughed about but then it came back positive.

Completley plausible i was 5 motnhs in because i had seizures(bled like normal) and my daughter was only about 8 months when i got preg so my body was still transitioning. I felt horrible i was a smoker and so on now i am 30 weeks and scarred to death what i may have missed but it is not impossible and yes i have heard of a few people who go term and all of a sudden their back hurts and they go to the doc and find themselves wisked to the L&D dept. most people dont get it but if youve been in the shoes of a suprised midgestation mom it feels very different.

Yes, that is actually more common then you'd think. There are even women that deliver babies early not even knowing they were pregnant! They just go to the hospital with extreme pain. It happens! And at a few months along, its very common.

Yes, it does happen. Some woman even continue to get a period through their pregnancies. It personally never happened to me though. I knew right away that I was pregnant with both of my children.

My cousin (who's heavyset) didn't know until she was 6 months.
And a girl I went to school with had her period the whole time and didn't know until she was 8 months pregnant (I don't know HOW, but she didn't).
So yes, it's definitely possible not to know at 3 months. I'm assuming if you're not trying for a baby, it's probably slightly common.

Certainly, I have heard of women carrying the baby full term and didnt know they were pregnant. As for me, I was over 4 months when I found out. Thats not at all unusual!

My mom didn't know she was pregnant until she was about 5 months into the pregnancy because she had just had a miscarriage before she got pregnant with me.

For my first child i did not find out till i was almost 6 months pregnant. Because i had irregular periods it was nothing for me to go 5 months without one. I only relized i was pregnant when i felt it start to kick.
