i'm confused--- was Montezuma the Aztec Ruler of Technotitlan?
is this also known as the tribe that controlled Mesoamerica at the time Cortes conquered Mexico?

Moctezuma was the leader of the Aztecs. However, Cuauhtemoc was the last ruler before the Spaniards conquered Mexico in 1523. Tenochtitlan was the ancient city built by the Aztecs, Mexico City now sits atop the ruins of Tenochtitlan.
Yes the Aztecs were the most powerful of all the tribes in Mesoamerica at the time the Spaniards conquered Mexico.

He was the emperor of the Aztecs whose capital and central civilization was located at Tenochitlan
