If you've had a breast reduction, are you happy with the results? What was the reason you had one - cosmetic, health reason, etc. How long did it take you to recover from your surgery? And exactly how much did yours cost? Did your insurance cover it or did you have to foot the bill? i am considering having one and I want as much info from as manny people who have had it as possible.
Thanks in advance!

Hi i had a breast reduction in Nov 2006 and let me tell you it was the best thing i have ever done, i was a size 44DDD and i had infections and rashes and backaches , headaches shoulder pain and very low self esteem. And now i am a 40 C
My surgery was over 11,000 and i had to probably pay at least 700.00 in the end but well worth it and since i had all those medical problems the insurance paid. And to recover you start to feel better in about 3 to 4 weeks but it will take at least a year to fully recover where the scars fade.
Also if you are wanting to have a baby afterwards there is a good chance you wont be able to breast feed and also you can lose feeling in one or both of the nipples but all in all if you are as big as i was and have problems it is well worth it.
Email me if you wanna know anything else i would be glad to talk to you.
Good luck and you wont regret it.

I had mine almost six years ago, and it was the best thing I've ever done. After my surgery, I didn't have all the problems with breathing, not being able to run, being laughed at (I was laughed at throughout middle school and part of high school because of them), not being able to wear shirts that weren't super baggy, not having as low of self-esteem that I did have, and some hunching over of the back. Most of it was self-esteem, but I had some back pain, so my dad's insurance covered 80% of it. I think it cost about $2500 after that? I was still a full-time college student when I had it done, and I had it done over Christmas break.

The plastic surgeon I had was board certified and nice. He frequently treated kids who had birth defects and was very kind. He had to take pictures of my breasts from EVERY angle. I figured the insurance company would be disgusted by my breasts, so I didn't mind. Luckily, he also didn't make me have a mammogram. He said that since I was only 21, he wouldn't make me have one.

I went home that night because I refused to spend the night in the hospital. I didn't have much pain, other than getting sick off vicodin. After two days, I went to Tylenol, and that helped. I had a bunch of itching a few days later, but taking benadryl helped. The hardest part was not being able to lift my arms much for a few days.

I went on a short trip about 8 or 9 days after the surgery, and went back to work about two weeks later? I worked on campus at my school, so I couldn't have worked until then anyway. I worked at the front desk of the campus gym.

I was told I might not be able to breastfeed. I haven't had kids, so I can't tell you if I'll be able to. The surgery was worth it, even if I can't ever breastfeed. I also didn't lose feeling in my nipples, and the scars faded a bit. You could only see them if I went topless (yeah right!) or had a string bikini (yeah right as I won't even wear a regular one!)

I know you're a teacher, and I suggest having it done over Christmas or the summer (if you don't have a summer job). I've subbed in elementary schools and remember doing some minor lifting and moving around, so it MIGHT be difficult for you for a few weeks after; like I said, my job was at a front desk with pretty much no exertion, so it was different for me.

Having a breast reduction was the best thing I ever did for myself. I had it done to relieve the pain in my back and shoulders. I had 6 1/2 pounds removed from my chest. Recovery time varies. I was out of work for 3 weeks and went back light duty for 3 more. But you need to understand my job involves a lot of manual lifting and moving people around. For someone with a less physical job they could go back sooner. But the recovery itself was a piece of cake. I never needed the pain meds I was given. Insurance covered 100% due to it being deemed medically necessary. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message.

I'm very happy with the results. I have no more back pain because of my surgery.

I had it done Feb 2006 (38J to 38C) and do not regret it one bit.

This site helped me out a lot before and after surgery:

Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I believe some insurances cover it if your Doctor states it is medically neccessary to prevent further health problems. The Doctor may need pre-approval for it . Your insurance agent or Doctor can find that out for you .
