Sublime is great and mystic but this may be one of the way to seek the truth. Sublime is moral grandeur and excellence. It is awakenning of feelings of awe and reverence. Therefore sublimity is the true way. I agree you with you on this.

Hi Wisdom.

I know what you mean when you ask about sublime & if it is the true way.

As far as what you are asking (is this the true way), yes it is.

What you are talking about is a wonderful thing. It means to strive to elevate oneself to a high degree of moral or spiritual purity or excellence.

What can be better than that (other than reaching Heaven)?!!

However, the word "sublime," used in that manner, is considered to be archaic. A word that is archaic is no longer used in everyday life. However, it is sometimes used to express an old-fashioned idea.

It certainly does not mean that the concept is old-fashioned, simply that the word used to express the concept is not used anymore.

The word "sublime," however, is still used as an adjective, if no longer as a verb. It is used to describe something of such excellence, grandeur or beauty that it inspires great admiration.

For example, if someone watches a ballet, danced to exquisite classical music, they may be asked how the performance was. The person, wanting to express how absolutely beautiful or wonderful it was, would say, "it was sublime."

Now that the language issue is resolved, let's go back to your concept, which was most important, in the first place!

To strive to elevate oneself to a high degree of moral or spiritual purity or excellence is a wonderful goal to have. Spiritual purity, virtue — it takes a lot of hard work - time, meditation, prayer, learning, patience. It is a worthwhile endeavor, certainly something that should be a major part of our lives.

I live a God/Jesus-centered life, which makes me WANT to strive for moral/spiritual purity. I am both a Christian and a Buddha; one can be both. My Christian God is a creator God whom I love and worship with all my heart. He sent His son, Jesus, to earth to teach us the proper way to live. Jesus also was sent to bring us salvation, by dying for our sins, for our sake.

Jesus taught us to love one another, to be virtuous, pure in heart & mind. When we love Him, we cannot help but want to do the right things. We want to live the way He lived, the way He taught us to live.

His teachings are not very different than that of Buddha's — forget about earthly desires, we do not need them. Empty our hearts & minds of all these desires and we will find peace & tranquility.

That would be sublime, wouldn't it!!!!

Peace.
