As soon as the Iraqis start taking responsibility for their own security and their own freedoms.
If they decide to do that and Iraq becomes a free stable democratic US friendly nation, in the midst of some of the biggest threats to the US, it will be a HUGE accomplishment and the history books will be PRAISING the actions of George W Bush.
We should all be hoping it does work because it is only in the best interest for both the US and the Iraqis that this is a success. Unfortunately too many far left libs put personal political gain over the best interest of the country.

"We can't afford or acknowlege any good news from Iraq or it will undermine our progress"
lol, yeah that would explain the Liberal plan for success, "cut 'n' run" lol.
Let's just all come home, and say "Victory, Victory" with Al Qaeda shortyly behind.
Pity.

The liberals won't do a damn thing they haven't done already - which is to say all you can look forward to are pandering and weak nonbinding resolutions, and perhaps badgering a uniformed General for his opinion. The Republicans deserve great ire from the population for getting us into this mess but the Democratic Party is NO better.

The Korean war happened in the 1950's, we are still there. Then there is WWII and we are still in Germany.
Really, use some rational thinking. I am sure you can figure it out.
I have always wondered why the Libs do not complain about those bases.... since they are only strategic now, just like Iraq will be one day.

You can't. We will filibuster. The troops can come home AFTER we have secured at least something positive for our President Bush's legacy. This is unlikely and plan B is to dump something truly hopeless on the democrats forcing them to abandon Iraq or continue a losing war of attrition. Either way we will criticize them for sure and try to spin it the nastiest way possible.

By next July we will actually be running out of troops so decreases have to happen.
If there was substantial good news, I'd acknowledge it.
