The reason soo many teams are changing are because they are switching to RBK now, not CCM anymore.

Theres a new cut of jersey or something. But also I think alot of teams didnt have the chance due to the strike. The NHL rules state something to the effect (and Im not totaly positive) that the team has to announce at the end of the season that they are changeing their uniforms. Im sure alot of teams wanted to change but with a year off they probably had other things on thier mind for marketing besides changing their jerseys.

MONEY! From what I understand each team is allowed a Home, Away and Alternate jersey. They are allowed to change them once every 3 years. Some teams will use the alternate jersey to try a new look. If it works, then they might change it to their normal jersey. The Ducks did that with their current home jersey. In the end, its about you and me forking over another $100-$150 bucks for the new look.

The NHL signed a deal with reebok to have these brand new top of the line jerseys, the the nhl probably asked teams to come up with new jerseys to go with the nhl's changing look; but the jerseys are a bunch of bs! a f'in jersey doesnt make you faster!

Theres a sparkling shrink of jersey or some thing. yet in addition i think of alot of communities didnt have the prospect because of the strike. The NHL regulations state some thing to the end result (and Im no longer totaly advantageous) that the group has to announce on the tip of the season that they are changeing their uniforms. Im specific alot of communities had to alter yet with a year off they probable had different issues on thier ideas for promoting and marketing as properly changing their jerseys.

To sell more souvenirs. Fans will buy the new replica sweaters, even if they have the old ones.
Only a couple of teams have real classics (Wings, Leafs, Rangers, Habs come to mind). The rest will change every so often. Same in the other sports.

As with nearly every change in pro and college sports that upsets the fans, it boils down to money. In NCAA football, small college teams get paid half a million dollars to go down to LSU or Michigan to potentially get their butts whooped (of course, Michigan got quite the shocker not too long ago).
In the NHL, Reebok came up with a jersey, pitched it to Bettman or whoever runs marketing, and thinks it's going to make money. I just wonder what Detroit passed up or fought to not have their jerseys changed. . .

It is mainly because they want a change. For example, the Leafs have waited 15 years to change their jerseys. The Canucks want to start fresh this year because of their dismol stanley cup run last season. They might have gone to the second round but they made a lot of stupid plays that really did look foolish. The Senators wanted a tougher, grittier look and to start fresh after their failed attemp to win the Cup.

The NHL is switching to a new "streamline" jersey this year so most the previous designs wouldn't work with the new template and since they had to change the over-all flow of the jersey why not revamp the look.
...and cash grab.

the NHL switched the company that makes them. they are now made by RBK and are supposed to be A LOT better. personally I'm a little sick of hearing about how these jerseys are so great and are going to revolutionize hockey when we all know that a jersey's a jersey and this is just a gimmick to bring in some extra cash.

Generate more money. It's like getting a face lift and creates awareness for the teams and the NHL.
