i think that's a very broad generalization. I'm an American and i always wish people the best......but some people just seem destined for failure because of their lifestyle.....and those are the facts :-)

i.e.
Elvis Presley
Jimmy Hendricks
Janis Joplin
Rick James
John Belushi
Anna Nicole Smith
Tupac Shakur

................. i think you get my point.

What's this "we" stuff? As an American, I don't give a rip about celebrities one way or another and I don't wish bad on anyone.

First, I think ALL people think that.

We see celebrities plastered everywhere.

Brad Pitt having sex with Angelina Jolie
Katherine Zeta-Jones having sex with Michael Douglas
Pamela Anderson having sex with everyone

When they fall flat on their face, we realize they are NOT better than I am, only luckier

It's not only Americans, it's people in general. It seems that a part of human nature revels in the misfortunes of others.

That's a false generalization. I don't hope anyone fails.

I think we inherently are born with such a sense of imperialism that it causes us to individually and as a group want others to fail so we can take over what they have. isn't that what manifest destiny is all about?
