4y+3x=7 < Subtract 3x from both sides
4y=-3x+7 y=3/4x+7/4

y=3/4x+1 3/4

1. Subtract 3x from both sides.
4y = 7 - 3x
2. Divide both sides by 4.
y = 7/4 - 3x/4
3. And there's your answer.

This just means make y subject of the formula so...

first of all put every term not including y on the right side

-------> 4y = 7 - 3x

now divide by y's constant...

-------> y = (7-3x) / 4

Just isolate y.

First: 4y=7-3x

Then: y=(7-3x)/4

Simple enough.
