how would i be able to solve this problem, there are two variables and only one equation

Two complex numbers are equal when both the real parts and the imaginary parts are equal.

So they are equal when:
8 = 2x
and
3x+y = 4

You have 2 equations and 2 unknowns. I'll leave solving the rest of this to you. It should be easy from there.
