Exactly where in the fossil record is the evidence for progressive evolution (I've seen it stated a number of times on here that there is evidence), of actual transitional forms between major groups?

Mr Rational Thinker, I accidently posted in this section. Yahoo put it here and I didn't catch it before I submitted it.Believe you me I did not come here looking for an argument. If you will notice, I reposted this question immediately afterwards in the R&S section where I intended to in the first place. It is a legitamate question and I have been studying the answers that I have received, mostly the ones that have links. GOD BLESS!!

Nick s, who said God made the world unchangeable? I must have missed that sermon and have never read it in the Bible. He says heaven and earth will pass away it also says that time winds down. Sounds like it changes to me.

Geez, I was just asking a simple question.I had no idea how touchy you people were gona be about it. But I don't blame you for being so sensitive seeing as how you probably spent so much time and money to be taught a bunch of hypothetical nonsense.

Keith p thanks for not being insulting. Like I said it was an accident that I posted in this section. I got a lot of links in R&S and have been looking at them. God bless!!

I don't know how to do the "link" thing, but,do yourself a favor.Check out those links, thoroughly. Most people opposed to TOE actually don't know much about it.We DO have a lot of "transitional fossils"We have genetic evidence, the same science that establishes paternity or convicts of rape.Creationists websites use misinformation and outright lies. They would have you think evolution is in dispute by appealing to emotion, not rational discourse. You sound as if you would be open to learning. That's great. One of my biggest beefs on r&s is people attacking TOE who don't even know what it is.Learn about it,you will never have questions like "why are there still monkeys?"or"Why don't we see a monkey give birth to a human?"You will find "irreducible complexity" has been refuted, speciation HAS been observed,Darwin did NOT recant, and ,best of all,you will discover why the banana is NOT the atheists' nightmare, lol!Good luck,I hope you enjoy learning. The evidence is there,it is overwhelming,it is indisputable.Find it

Evolutionist? That is not a real term. It stinks of the dogmatic. Evolution is not contestible, but the evolutionary timeline is, and the science is very incomplete. But that is how science works.

It is not a case of belief. Evolution in one form or other can be seen to be in progress. I have recently seen photos of sea cliffs that I knew as a kid, and they have eroded at least 50 meters back since then. So, the creationists notion that God created the world unchangeble is seen to be nonsense by simply using one's eyes.

Science is all about opening ones eyes. Religion is all about closing them to anything that might challenge your beliefs.

There is no such thing as an evolutionist, the same as there is no such thing as a "round-Earth-ist".

Answer for creationists:

First, this is the Astronomy section.

Secondly, Why do you insist that if it isn't in the "good book" it can't be true? The good book tells us that the earth is the center of the universe -- we know that not to be true. The good book somehow left out one of the great truths of the universe -- that the ratio of a circle's radius to it's circumference is constant -- i.e. pi. Will you dispute that because it doesn't appear in the Bible??

How can you believe that the universe is only 6000 years old, when we are seeing light from stars millions of light years away?? Do you think that ignoring facts that conflict with your beliefs will make them go away?

You make my a** tired

Everywhere.

Nearly every species that has ever lived is transitional between what came before and what came after. Biologists don't even keep lists of "transitional" forms because the term is completely arbitrary and vague.

But if you want a (very) incomplete list, confined to vertebrate animals only, try this one:

1) The term is 'evolutionary biologist'.

2) This is the astronomy section, not biology.

3) http://www.talkorigins.net

4) Every fossil is a transitional fossil between the lifeform before it and the one after. If you were fossilized, you would be a transitional fossil between your parents and your kids. I think the problem is that people don't understand what they are asking for.

A question for you Bert:
Why does our acceptance of a rational theory
trouble you so, when your adherence to an
irrational belief bothers us not at all?
Is your need for that crutch so great that it
must be projected onto others?
You must be very insecure.
Our sympathies.....

I doubt that someone so deeply into Religion & Spirituality (I see that you are a Top Contributor on that board) would recognize or acknowledge any evidence presented to them.

And BERT, one follow up question, your profile states "It is againgt my religion to impose my religion on others." then why are you coming to the Astronomy & Space board looking just for arguments?
