Nurses work 2-4 long days with no travel required.
Teachers have the same hours your school-aged children will have, and no travel.
Health professionals are always in need with regular hours and no travel.
Most government employees have regular hours and fantastic benefits, especially when it comes to taking time-off for family emergencies, illness, appointments, etc.

Keep in mind that you will probably have to sacrifice some income in order to be home a reasonable amount of time, unless you have a good home-based business idea. You can probably find something like a medical transcriptionist job for $30K, but the big money tends to go to those who are willing to put all of their time and energy into the job. By the way, a friend of mine with a master's degree went back to secretarial school, thinking she would end up with a 9-5 job, and found that even in the better administrative jobs, she was expected to mirror her boss' hours.

Become a Mary Kay consultant. You can set your own hours. You can even do the parties and facials at your own home, if you wish. Go to the marykay.com web site and read up on it. Contact me if you want specific information.
