those aren't new wave, they just 80s pop music. New wave is Erasure, the Smiths, Morrissey, etc.

Examples of 80's New Wave:
"Whip It" (and anything else by the band) DEVO
"I Ran" by Flock of Seagulls
"Cars" by Gary Neuman (you had the lyrics almost).
"Pocket Calculator" (euro-wave) by Kraftwerk
"Pop Musik" by M
"Destination Unknown" by Missing Persons
The 80's went all out (maybe too far out) to be unlike the 70's.
