First off, it wouldn't be the first time in history, AMD was pretty soundly kicking the crap out of Intel from the time the Athlon 64 came out until the Core 2 Duos came out, so this wouldn't be a first.
As for anyone making predictions, the bottom line is that there is not enough information to declare a winner in this battle yet. No one really has a good handle yet on how fast the Phenoms will be, so anyone declaring that one or the other will win is not telling you the truth, no one knows yet (except maybe the folks at AMD, and they aren't taking, which might be a bad sign for them).

i'd accept as true with BlackKobold. Phenom II is not any experience for center i7. The Phenom II 955 is approximately on-par with the Q9550. Phenom II 940 is on-par with the Q9400. Phenom II 920 is approximately equivalent to a Q8300/Q8400 or Q6600. Phenom II 810 is comparable to a Q8200. Phenom IIs overclock nicely, however the middle 2 Quads are quicker clock-for-clock, so for the comparable clock velocity you will get greater overall performance off of an Intel. the two processors will hit 3.5Ghz or so, yet back the Intel will carry out greater ideal at that velocity. additionally make effective your motherboard is wonderful with your processor, as AMDs and Intels use distinctive motherboards. you will locate the two around the comparable budget. And to the respond decrease than the middle i7 did no longer something to force down center 2 Quad costs different than and the very intense end(QX intense sequence.) i7 grew to become into released at $3 hundred and nonetheless hovers there, jointly as maximum center 2 Quads are around $250 and decrease than. Phenom II fairly drove the charges of those issues down.

No Intel is going to release a new version of the Quad Core processor by then. AMDs have slower factory presets, but then they are often overclocked to speeds higher than Intel processors.
That would be very interesting to see if AMD could pull if off, although I strongly doubt they will.
AMD and ATi's "new" products are never new. nVidia and Intel make them first, then ATi and AMD try to copy them and make them better, but by the time they release their upgrade, nVid and Intel have already released more powerful chips.
Athlons sucked anyway, slow and ineffecient.

HeY!!! That's good news for me. Although Intel is a powerhouse... [and it consumes sh** load of power] I still prefer AMD over it.
But don't you think its good that their fighting over to who has the fastest processors in less than 5 years since dual cores was introduced. I mean, they'll stop at nothing to create more powerful devices. We just have to thank those two BIG semiconductor companies for what we have today and in the future. =) OF OUR PC! LAPTOPS! HANDHELDS! PC! LOPTOPS! HANDHELDS! PC! LAPT.........................
