I don't think it makes sense that Democrats support the murder of babies but do not think it is ok for two same gender people that love each other to spend the rest of their lives together. They will denounce same sex marriage in the name of religion but stick up for abortion? In God's eye I would have to think they are at least the same amount of sinning. Now I don't mean to open a debate about abortion, I know it is a very tough issue and nobody is actually FOR abortion. I just don't get why Democrats seem to have this double standard. It's ok to to apply your religious standards on gay couples but not pregnant women?

OK let me clarify some things. 1. I am mainly referring to the Democratic presidential front runners (Clinton, Obama). 2. There are many Christian churches that support gay marriage (some UCC, some Methodist) there are Jewish temples that support gay marriage. 3. Gay marriage is not about sex, it is about love and wanting to build a life together, also the hundreds of benefits.
Again I am not asking to start a debate on either issue, I just think that the positions are a bit paradox.

Please do not answer with a question. That is what the "ask" button way up top is for. I know the two issues have nothing to do with each other my point is that the candidates to which I am referring oppose gay marriage for "religious" reasons I just find it sanctimonious.

They are idiots! Or are they? Maybe they are picking and choosing their battles. Maybe the next election they will support it when the public is a lot more open towards gay marriage. Regardless that does not justify their actions because they should support abortion and gay marriage.
Keep in mind there are some politicians who do support both of these issues so they are not all bad just the ones who are gay but against gays. But, compared to where we were a hundred years ago and where we are now I'd say we're making progress and in a hundred years abortion and gay marriage will be yestardays news. Just like womans and African Americans right to vote, to be treated equally, to be heard was a hot topic a hundred years ago.

According to religion, ask for forgiveness and you shall receive. Repent, and the Lord shall save you. Abortion is a one time (hopefully) deal. Being gay is a lifetime. You can repent for one action, but not for your whole life. That is why religious politicians can not find a double standard in supporting one and opposing the other.
Also, politicians are mostly influenced on what will get them the most votes. One of the biggest dividing factors between Dems and Reps is abortion. Whatever side you believe, is what most voters will go for. As far as gay marriage, both sides are religious, and both abide by the same premises that the bible has-marriage is between a man and a woman. So, since that is what their constituents believe, in order to get elected, they have to voice the same opinion.

First of all most Democrats do not base their decisions on issues with the bible. That would be the Republicans. Secondly what does same sex marriage have to do with abortions. I have a question for you. How can the so called moral Republicans be against abortion, yet for the death penalty? Anyway you look at it they are both taking a life. Democrats base their decisions on how it might affect their political careers.

Democrats, Republicans, whatever. I hate labels. Just go with your beliefs. I'm pro-choice and I support same-sex marriage. Although I'm young, I think I'm old enough and am well-informed enough to make my own decisions.
Religion can't be applied to laws. Because NOT EVERYBODY IS THE SAME RELIGION. I don't believe in a "god," so why should I be denied an abortion, if necessary, because it's a "sin" I don't even believe in? Same for gay marriage. (Not saying I'm planning on getting an abortion or suddenly going gay.)
Do you eat veal? Dairy? Because if you do, then you're "killing babies."

As far as I know, most Democrats are generally supportive of gay marriage - at least more so than Republicans and other conservatives.
However, gay marriage and abortion are two completely different issues that revolve around different circumstances.
Furthermore,....I'll stop here because anything more would be getting on my soapbox which doesn't relate to this question.

What planet are you from? Many Democrats believe in a woman's right to choose, which does not mean they "support" the murder of babies. Secondly, many Democrats to believe that gays should have the legal benefits of "marriage".

Actually I'm for gay marriage.
And I believe in freedom of choice for the main reason that I can only make decisions in regards to my own body, and I feel that I shouldn't take away another woman's decision in regards to her own body.
I don't plan on ever having an abortion.
Why do you believe this only applies to Democrats? (I'm Independent, by the way.)

I DO NOT FEEL THE QUESTION IS DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS IT IS THE LAW AND THE RULINGS OF THE SUPREME COURT--IN ROE V WADE--THE SUBJECT OF ABORTION WAS ADRESSED AND IT WAS ABOUT THE RIGHT OF A MOTHER TO ABORT HER CHILD AND NOT THE RIGHT OF THE STATE TO INTERFER WITH THAT PERSONS RIGHT TO DECIDE WHAT SHE WANTED TO DO WITH HER UNBORN, HER BODY AND HER RIGHTS AS AN INDIVIDUAL.
GAY MARRIAGES ARE DENOUNCED BY THE CHURCHES AND THE STATES AND REPEALED BY THE SUPREME COURT AS SAME SEX MARRIAGES. SO IT IS THE SUPREME COURT WHO ENVOKES THE LAW AND CHANGES THE LAWS NOT DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS OR LIBERALS
