Well a negative(-) times a positive(+) is a negative.
You just do the multiplication of 2 x 5 and put in the negative sign, so -2 x 5 = -10

then to square it you do -10x -10. Since a negative times a negative is a possitive you can ignore the signs and 10 x 10=100

the answer is 100

2007-09-12 15:39:19 · answer #8 · answered by goofygoober 2 · 0 1

(-2 x 5)^2

First: combine terms in the parenthesis.

(-10)^2

Sec: eliminate the exponent - multiply (-10) by itself, twice.
*When you multiply two negative numbers, the solution is always positive.

(-10)(-10) = 100
