First, thanks to all who reply, and have replied. It really is helpful.. But to add some more info to my earlier question. My 99 Caravan does actually overheat when I exit the freeway. the res bubbles up, the gauge goes quickly to redline (Then sometimes drops as quickly to midpoint) and teh buzzers and bells start chirping...I have suggested to the mechs to check the sensors, thinking that the read to the dual fans is screwy (Technical term, excuse me) I've checked the fans, and they both do work, again I don't know if they stop working on the hwy, and the car is being air-cooled, and then the read is all fouled. I don't know. But I do know that wherever I go, I never tell the guys to try to save me $. I just ask for the prob to fixed, Is that unreasonable?..I guess my next stop should be to Dodge. Thanks All.

if you are moving at speeds over 40 the fans are not needed the air coming in the front of the van and moves over the rad.
check and test the coolant cap see if it is working if it doesn't build pressure than the coolant will boil at a lower temp 212 with 20 psi of pressure water will boil about 250- 270 if the cap is OK than there could be a problem with the heads or gasket
check the thermostat and make sure it opens at the right temp

The fans only run when temp sensor tells them. They should turn off at highway speed as there is plenty of air over the radiatop. How did you check them ?? the simple way is turn on the a/c when stopped and engine running. This only tells you that they do run. Idle the engine, with a/c off, with hood open and see if fans come on when engine gets to normal. If not you have a coolant temp. sensor problem. If every thing looks ok I would suggest you go to a RADIATOR SHOP and discuss your problem. I take it you have sufficient coolant in system. Stay away from dealers, they know the least and charge the most. I would bet if I could get hands on I could solve this problem in 30 min. It is difficult to diagnose a problem like this from a computer screen I suspect you have a radiator problem.
