on a fixed income, and I only get money that I make from my job at Ralphs,(which isn't that much),the question that I have is,since I have a feeling, eventhough I haven't figured it up yet,the cost of trimming the tree and the new roof, that I'll need to get a better paying job,or at least get another source of income, should I start looking and applying for another job?I have tried to have roomates, but it didn't work out that well, any suggestions?

I'm sure you can always use the extra money, if nothing else to build up your savings so you have emergency money to fall back on, so I'd go ahead and find a parttime job somewhere and start saving. Factory work pays pretty good most of the time so look into finding a fulltime job there and maybe you can work at Ralphs parttime :)

We have a very large oak tree in our front yard that is over 50 years old (I know that because it drops acorns galore and they have to be over 50 to do that). We had to have someone out last year to trim it back and it cost us $250. The whole curb and sidewalk in front of our house was covered with limbs until the city came along the next day and took it all away.

Thankfully we don't have to pay to have bulk items or yard waste removed because the city does it every week so you may have to find out what the policy is where you live and see if you also have to pay to have it removed after the tree is trimmed.

When I lived in OH, the city would pick up yard waste if we called them and told them what we had. When we lived in Dallas, they picked it up once a month so we kept it in the backyard until pick up day. Most cities want your yard waste so they can mulch it and use it in their parks, along the roads where they plant trees/flowers, etc., so call and find out what they do in your area before having the tree trimmer out.

An arborist is who you should call for an estimate to trim the tree. It may not need anything done to it yet.

As for your roof, have you looked into getting a home improvement loan from your bank? You would at least have some breathing room and could pay it back on a monthly basis. I know that a roof is expensive, but you can't do without it, so check with your bank and find out if you can get a loan or refinance your home. Then you can figure out what kind of job you need to look for as a second job and how much extra money you need to make.

Good luck

problem is with fixed income people.contractors
want half up front.
If you hire a handyman to trim your tree it's cheaper. But let it go till you get your roof fixed.
you may be ableto check with social services.
you may be able to make payments to a lumber
yard.
Yes if you can find a better job,i'd take it,as
you hafto look out for yourself.

Cut down the tree and have it accidentally fall on your roof. Then call your insurance company. They may pay to have the tree removed and your roof fixed, then again maybe not.
