It makes for a great story and let's just leave it at that. Stories like that are passed down from generation to generation and that is part of what makes baseball so great.

It's a myth. During the 1932 world series, there was a lot
bench talk between both teams. When the Babe batted,
the Cubs bench, was really talking and squawking at him.
He also had words with Cubs pitcher Charlie Root.
The Babe pointed at Root, and said something.
Then the Babe hit a Home run to Right Center. As he
rounded the bases, he started ripping into the Cubs bench.
You can see some of his gesturing as he rounded third
base. After the game the press asked him if he called
"the shot". At first he said no, but when further asked about
it, he changed his story, and said yes........

i think the story is that he was pointing at some fans in the outfield. so technically it is true (if my story is right).
