Is he even eligible?

I don't think he's eligible (50 innings minimum), plus players like Dustin Pedroia and Delmon Young have put on strong campaigns throughout the whole season.

Nope. Even if he was eliglible there are rookie pitchers (and batters) that have been better than him. Brian Bannister has a 12-8 record for the Royals with the 4th lowest ERA in the AL, the key words in that sentence were "for the Royals". To me that is much more impressive than the roughly 16 innings of no runs that Chambelain has put up.

No because this is not his official "rookie" year. You have to play in a min amount of games (innings) to qualify. That is why the Yankees have the "Joba rules" contract not to pitch him back to back nights and if he pitches in more then one inning he has 2 nights off.
The Yanks are thinking of putting him in the rotation next season and that will be his "rookie" year. I hope he continues to pitch like he has!
This rotation sounds good:
Wang
Mussina
Petite
Chamberlain
Hughes
That Ian Kennedy is looking pretty good too!

Chamberlain is eligible -- there are a variety of misinterpretations of the ROY requirements above -- but come on, 14 innings pitched? Even in high-leverage situations, there is only so much value he can have contributed. I don't see him winning it, but he'll still be eligible next year, so maybe then.

Do you think Joba Chamberlain is the second coming of christ? holy cow, he's only pitched 14 innings in his whole career. seriously... considering the way that the Yankees take care of their pitching staff, I wouldn't expect this kid to be good for very long.

Can he? Technically. Will he? No chance. There are three rookies in Boston ALONE who have contributed greatly over the course of the entire season, not 14-15 innings (Pedroia, Okajima, Matsuzaka).

He qualifies as a rookie but do you think he has made more of a contribution to the Yankees than Dice-K has for the Red Sox?

I don't think so. Came into the rotation way late in the season.

Uhh, he hasn't given up a run yet, and he made his debut over 1.5 months ago!! If he's eligible, there should be no contest.

i don't think he will because he hasn't played enough of the season to truly be able to be voted to win a yearly award.
