well our founding fathers wrote the decleration of independence which was to promote liberty but has that dream come true? i mean
WHY did they write it in the first place? cause in my opinion they said all men were created equal and yet slavery was still practiced in those times after it was written so it doesnt make sense
what is ur opinion about all this?

They wrote the Declaration of Independence for one reason only: to offer a justification of separation from Great Britain which would be accepted by the people of America. That is, the writers wanted to assert their nation's independence from the British government. As for whether the claims that all men are created equal was hypocritical given the institution of slavery, of course it was. That inconsistency would not be significantly redressed for more than 85 years, and not completely then. That has no bearing on the effectiveness of the document:
A. We want to be free of the UK.
B. Hey, people, we have a God-given right to be free of the UK.
C. OK, let's kill the British until they let us rule ourselves.
D. Kill, kill, kill...
E. Treaty of Paris.
F. OK, we've got this country of our own now...

Well it is true but today we have more freedom than almost any country on earth. I don't know what your complaining about.

Do you see slavery today in the US? No you don't. Also, back then they didn't have the technology to NOT have manual labor. Without slaves back then you could be living in Europe because the Colonies would never have survived without the labor. So once again, what are you complaining about? It's not like this issue WASN'T discussed during the continental congress. Without the slaves the south would have whithered and died. So, southern Representatives could not allow slavery to be abolished.

You simply think the world is so simple? It's not so tough beans. but times change so you should be happy with the present instead of complaining about the past. Would the result of current society be the same if the course of events were different? You should considered it a blessing that things turned out this way.

They wrote a simple declaration to show that they are independent. THAT IS IT. Break it up. "Declaration"- to declare "Independence"- to be independent. It is the roots of the revolutionary war.

My Opinion- Humans will never be equal unless we become communist. People in this society begins to think less morally because political equality has already been achieved. Look at it like this. Are you equal to Bill Gates? guess what? NO ONE IS. What do you do about it? NOTHING. Live your life and work hard. Contribute to society before you die.

IMHO, society has been slowly and steadily improving. When the founding fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence, they were working with concepts that were new at the time to Europeans. (Many of the ideas were taken from Native American tribal structure.) Remember, at that time, this was one of the very first governments without a king in recent history. They were rejecting the idea that one person was allowed to rule a country for life. They wanted to try the idea of a democratic society, where many people had to agree to do things, instead of being dictated to. The idea that ANYONE was equal to anyone else was a new concept to them. It was pretty radical at the time for Europeans. And they weren't just thinking of white males. They only included white LAND OWNING males...

Has society improved?

Do you see slavery around you anywhere?

Step by step, but much too slowly, things do improve.

Well, better than what? But in my opinion, no, society is no better. Society is made up of people and obviously people are no better than they ever were and never will be.
