This is obvious and they know it! There is no way Petraeus could have done it without being called one. Poor Hero!
Thank a vet today!

I don't find it amusing at all.
I'm a Democrat, by the way, and I thought the invasion of Iraq was premature, with the wrong force structure and poor planning.
Nonetheless, we're there and have a moral obligation to make the best of it, and it infuriates me that the political grandstanding and downright rudeness slurs a man who's spent his life in service of the country, and who is, as you've said, an honorable and decent man. Once again, my party seems hell-bent on losing my vote in the upcoming election.

What's sad is the knee jerk defense of anyone associated with the bush administration by so many on the right. I'm convinced that most of the people who attack the Dem's for their criticism of Petraus have not spent 5 minutes researching the issues. They haven't made any effort to read the reports that conflict with the generals testimony. They decided before he ever set foot in Washington that they were going to believe every word he said rather than apply critical thinking to a complex situation.
THAT is sad.

Obama would desire to have been mendacity, yet for a gongressman to yell out interior the direction of a speech is cheesy to assert the least. If Wilson gave an interview claiming Obama wasn't being straightforward, that could have been advantageous.

No I do not. I think it is amusing that people believe him simply because he is giving a "good" report in Iraq despite numerous bad reports. The man is a Bush flunkie who will say what he is told to say. Read his report again carefully, he does not actually give a good report. The "good" parts are cherry picked to paint a better picture of the situation in Iraq. Stop believing the talking points you hear on tv and read the thing for yourself with an open mind.

I would have thought it is much more sad to be in your position. Having such little confidence in your own ideals and values that the only political point you are capable of making is misrepresenting others.

Gee, I guess the other generals in the army who are calling him a liar must be trying to fail then, eh? And all the press.
Geez, its amazing how far you guys will go to avoid dealing with reality.

What part of Iraq gives you most cause for optimism?
The fact that the death rate of Iraqi civilians and U.S. servicemen shows no sign of abating?
The fact that allies are leaving one by one? Even Britain is now looking for a way out.
The fact that a majority of Iraqis say they want the U.S. out of there, whatever the risk may be?
Or perhaps the fact that the U.S. army has now resorted to such questionable practices of arming one group against another?
The war was founded on lies from day one. Generals who weren't yes-men were fired by the Bush administration. Of course it's more lies. I take no pleasure in a dire situation that has been brought upon us for absolutely no good reason. There's nothing positive about the war in Iraq. The very fact that that war was pushed for and obtained by the White House on the basis of a barrage of lies is an abomination in itself.

Well, thanks for the generalization. I am mostly Republican and I think he lied. What about THAT?
It's called being able to tell when someone is telling bold-faced lies. Some of the signs are not being able to look someone in the eye while speaking, not being able to re-start in the middle if interrupted, picking at clothes, running fingers thru hair, etc ... sometimes it's just a GUT FEELING. Do you have any guts?

Pretty much. The Dems have been waiting to bring out the white flags since before the first troops ever set foot in Iraq. The flags are a bit dusty, but they're still working hard on being able to use them before '08.

It disgusts me to see a major political party so hell bent on America's failure.
As usual, if the democrats don't like the message, they attack the messenger.
