While in high school I was in many activities and an AP student. I was a member of Whose Who in American High School Students, the National Honor Roll, as well as a National Merit Award nominee in field of Language Arts. In college I managed to receive good grades, however due to absences I only passed one class (I only went for one semester). The reason for this was depression which I saw a psychologist for. However, I was placed on academic suspension for one year. I no longer wish to go back to the same school, and due to my now greatly decreased GPA can't get into any school to my knowledge. I know community college is an option but my community college doesn't offer financial aid to students that don't pursue an Associates Degree. Also my local community college has bad professors and reputation. Is there any school that would accept me with my status or would I have to go to community college (I have no problem going if I have to).

It sounds like you are a very talented student. Despite your misgivings, I'd encourage you to reconsider the junior college route. One or two semesters of straight-A work (which seems well within your capabilities) will re-establish your academic reputation as well as start your GPA on the road to recovery. I'd think of the poor reputation as a sort of penance for your previous attendance record. If you can pursue an associates degree to get financial aid, do so; you are under no obligation to finish the degree.

Reconsider the community college, many people get fin aid there even planning on transferring to a four year school. You are not listing your academic goal correctly somehow. Find out what they want and list it. When you are ready to transfer to a four year school do it. This is what community colleges do. Another alternative is to petition another 4 year school to be admitted. My hubby was put on academic suspension at least three times and wrote a letter to get back in, which they granted each time.

Honestly, I don't see getting back into a school the problem, you will find someone who will take you. What's the kicker is if you need fin aid to attend... they are much less forgiving when it comes to bad grades. Just remember, almost every decision has an appeals process.
Good Luck

You might want to move to another city if possible, perhaps a large city with many educational and work apportunities...and work in something you really love for maybe a year or two...and then perhaps you can apply to the state university or the city college or any community or tech school...based on your work experience and your strong high school record. Maybe you can also get on the vocational rehab. for your state and get sponsored for some training/higher education. Maybe you can even qualify for a scholarship if you show some strong leanings. I wouldn't worry too much about that botched semester. If you have a good idea where you want to go, and some solid background, you will get back on track. Good luck!

sure, this is undesirable. in case you graduate with decrease than a three.0 various doors are going to close for you. Many employers say do no longer even hassle making use of with decrease than a three.0, and in case you pass away it off your transcript they assume this is low. you're purely shooting your self interior the foot and rendering your degree valueless in case you do be in a position to graduate. something over a 2.0 is "sturdy tutorial status." That purely ability you're nonetheless eligible for loans. you are able to desire to get intense approximately it or get out, you're purely dropping money.

If you apply to another school, I don't think you have to tell them about the first school. Just don't try to transfer any credits. I don't know how they could find out, really. Just send them your high school transcripts and pretend you took a few years off (cite 'medical issues' or something). Good luck!
