I was a cop; and there is no secret that alot of child offenders come out of prison and become REPEAT OFFENDERS (I'm specificially talking about the sexual offenders!).
I believe that it is too soon to know if an INMATE is "rehabilitated" just after release from prison. I believe they should be HOUSED in a "transiitional housing"~~somewhere in the desert away from people~~ for ONE YEAR "AFTER" THEIR RELEASE FROM PRISON, for further evaluation, PRIOR TO them moving into neighborhoods where children reside. What do you think?

Most states have laws as you know pertaining to sex offenders and state registries for convicted sex offenders are accessible by searching the internet.
I have received information which of course I can't find at this time about sex offenders living in particular areas. It gives the location of the registered offender.
But, all should be informed especially those with children about sex offenders in their area.
Are the requirements before release at all near what they should be; I don't think so.
What's the answer?
Monitoring devices can be removed.
How often do they check in and with who?
No, it's not enough.
Without having enough information right now and proper nourishment for my brain, I suggest this:
Any sex offender of children or adults should be monitored closely. If convicted of a sex offense, statistics show that they are likely to repeat.
I don't know what the answer is.
Should they not be released at all? Maybe so.
I don't believe they can be rehabilitated so it's not easy to answer this question.
Perhaps convicted sex offenders should not be released into the general population at all.
That then would apply to those who have committed murder?
What do we do? Ask John Walsh; seriously he is a man who's devoted his life to such unthinkable crimes against children and adults alike.
We have to be kept informed as individuals and should inform others when we have knowledge of released sex offenders.
I don't believe transitional housing will help at all.
Perhaps they need their own community. That sounds so what? I don't have the answer and neither does anyone else.
I can think of "radical" ways to prevent future sex offenses, but I don't want to go there because I'm too confused.
Much stiffer sentences seems to be the best answer I can come up with right now.
People in general need to take precautions with their children; educating children, teaching children how to best protect themselves.
Schools, teachers, parents, relatives, all have to be involved in prevention.
Education is key; isn't it??? Education for us all and knowing how to best defend oneself.
Serious and important it is. Where are the experts??? There aren't any experts in any area; more educated, but no experts.

Who exactly would be the one doing this torture. I think that the moral fortitude of most people would not allow them to do this. This is especially true if the person being tortured has no way to stop it. In the international history of the military torture has been used to extract information, but what you are proposing would never end. There would just be a torturer who wakes up, tortures people goes and eats lunch, tortures some more and then goes home for the day... Who could do something like that? I agree with the person that said they should have to clean up wal-mart's bathrooms.

You have to be the sickest of the sick to be a child sexual offender. They should be used as targets for the military. Screw trying to reform them, and giving them a second chance. Shoot the S.O.B. right between the eyes 6 times, then give him a second chance.

I think you have been in a coma for ten years or more. Most states now have "civil commitments" for sexual offenders, and they can be held until some professional says he or she is not likely to re-offend - to the extent anyone can really predict.

By the way, a lot of cops are child-abusers. Does your rule apply to them?

yea way to spend millions making desserts in states like Florida. I think they should have gps's implanted. That would be cheaper and if they go within 1000 feet of a school it should shock them until the police come and reset it or 10 Min's. That would be much cheaper. Anyone found without one or the guy that removed should go on trial for aiding in a felony act.

I think that would be a complete waste of taxpayer's money. Quite frankly, child molesters are NOT able to be rehabilitated. Period. If you don't believe me, go consult the DSM-IV. You can get it at your local library, and this is the "psychiatrist's bible".

I think they should all be deported to a deserted island. Maybe a deserted island in the Aleutians.
